So the new baby is in quarantine for two more weeks.

I'm enjoying the chance to bond with her and everything, but man can't I wait until quarantine is over. It's such a hassle messing with two cages and changing clothes in between ferrets and etc. I can also hardly keep up with her, and haven't managed to wear her out yet...when we do intros I'm really hoping she and Melody will get along well, so they can tire each other out when the other ferrets get tired of playing, which is sooner and sooner these days (Elsie is 6-7ish and Casper and Wort are fast approaching 5).

Anyway, she's about five and a half months old, and deaf as a doorknob too. At first I wasn't sure because she really seems to like crocheted eggs, which make a lot of noise, but I think she must like the texture/size and shape of them or something, because she doesn't respond at all if I shake them where she can't see them. And I can bang all sorts of things right by her head while she's asleep and no response to that either.

She doesn't seem to mind baths too much - I had to bathe her a couple days after we got her and she was a little weirded out at first by the water, but didn't seem scared of it and didn't poop in it like most of my ferrets always have. I think the difference might be that she just can't hear how loud the water is.

I've heard some deaf ferrets dook a lot because they can't hear themselves - Jersey doesn't dook much, but she is fairly vocal in that she hisses whenever she's excited (which is most of the time when she's out of her cage).

I'm going to try to get some better pics of her this weekend so you guys can see her pathetic amount of black hairs on her back/tail before they fade away. :P

Wirehaired Fox Terrier litter information from Canis Novus - I'm not smart enough to figure out Excel, so I'm doing this instead of a spreadsheet.

I left a lot of communities just now, and did a flist cut of some people.

Please don't take it personally if I cut you (or left a community you moderate).

I kind of had to leave the communities for my sanity. The people that were cut were cut because I skim their posts, or we never talk to each other, or they haven't updated in forever, or whatever.
